They had developed a cure for the Noise, and were the last town to be taken over by Prentisstown, to whom they surrendered. At the end of The Knife of Never Letting Go, the town was renamed New Prentisstown, and Mayor Prentiss quickly assumed the role of President.

She was survived by her son, Daniel Rosen, a law professor in Tokyo; grandchildren, Daniel Rosen Jr. and Allison Rosen; and former daughter-in-law, Sheri Rosen. She was buried in San Fernando Cemetery No. 3.
Sam Bateman. Samuel Thomas Bateman was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1985 until 2000, when he was forced by term limits to step down. His district consisted of a portion of Adams County, Ohio.
