A year later, after their marriage in America on Joel’s 27th birthday in 1960, the young pianists were invited to play together at a festival in California. They so enjoyed this first performance, that they subsequently devoted a large portion of their time each season to joint appearances, playing solos, duets and works for two pianos and television appearances in New York, Paris and Geneva.
In 2009 The Battery Rocks came under threat from the Route Partnership scheme, which intended to transform this tranquil location into a freight yard. It became the subject of much local campaigning, however despite objections the controversial scheme achieved planning consent.
In 2005, the Snagboat Heritage Center was built just North of W. T. Preston. This interpretive center houses artifacts, models, maps and other historical text and information about the snagboats that maintained the area’s navigable waterways.
In June, 2015 it was reported that Bodde had been appointed to the coaching staff at ADO Den Haag, working with the club’s academy. Bodde has been capped by the Netherlands at Under 23 level. In April 2009 Bodde was included in FourFourTwo’s Top 50 Football League Players, and came in at a very respectable 11th place.
