After a year with Pollack, while on tour in Los Angeles, Hurley left to become studio musician. Hurley was playing with Paul Whiteman when Glenn Miller sent for him to join the Miller band on its Glen Island Casino opening in May 1939, the year following fellow Fort Worthian Tex Beneke joining Miller’s band.
He is also known for the spectroscopy rule named after him, the El-Sayed rule. He earned his B.Sc. from Ain Shams University Faculty of Science, Cairo in 1953. El-Sayed earned his doctoral degree from Florida State University working with Michael Kasha, the last student of the legendary G. N. Lewis.
Initially Sibley had small roles such as a friend of Swanhilda in Coppélia and Red Riding Hood in Sleeping Beauty. Joan Lawson in The Dancing Times wrote of Sibley’s dancing, lyrical qualities and beautifully flowing line.
He did load the bases with no outs one inning, but then retired the heart of the order, Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, and Tony Lazzeri, striking out both Gehrig and Lazzeri. In his 17 games for The Bronx Bombers in the 1932 season, 15 were starts, and he went 7–5 with a 3.93 ERA.

Joan featured interpretations of work by then-contemporary composers, including John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Tim Hardin, Paul Simon and Donovan. In 1968, Baez traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, where a marathon recording session resulted in two albums.
