In the Pacific Ocean, it is known from southern Japan, Taiwan, New Caledonia, northwestern Australia, and New Zealand, and eastward to Hawaii, southern California, the Gulf of California, and west of the Galapagos Islands.
On 24 January 1940, Erie assisted the destroyer at Wreck Bay, Galapagos Islands, with transferring the US tuna boat City of San Diego’s chief engineer (pneumonia) aboard and sailing him to Balboa for medial treatment the following day.
Among the Museum’s collection, of particular note are the remains of Quaternary fauna (bears, lions, rhinoceros, hippopotamus, etc.) and signs of human presence from the Middle Palaeolithic. The Museum is part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network and also manages the El Toll caves prehistoric park.
As a result of a meeting held on 12 January 1915, the Press, under financial strain due to World War I, was deliberately delaying the publication of further volumes of the Flora, which had originally been planned as annual issues.
The last species, so far undescribed and known only from a left scapula and humerus, is around the same size as a kea ( Nestor notabilis ). Flora from the Saint Bathans fauna fossil beds indicate these parrots were found in a subtropical rainforest habitat.
