Three cabinet ministers and five secretaries of states are leading regional lists, and eight other cabinet members are present on the majority’s lists. The New Centre obtained the top candidacy in Burgundy (with François Sauvadet) and Nord-Pas-de-Calais (with Valérie Létard), but not in Lower Normandy.

Fougea’s knowledge of ethology and anthropology, along with his appreciation for the oral tradition, legends and singular destinies, can all be found in his films. Between 1989 and 1999 he wrote and produced, with his company Boréales and Canal+, a series of thirteen animal films, entitled Les Seigneurs des animaux (The Lords of the Animals).
Since 1831 he was secretary of the founded societé d’horticulture de Mons. In 1833 he worked on the foundation of the Societé des arts et des lettres du Hainaut, where he was vice-president and, from 1865, president.
He translated seven books of Diodorus Siculus (1554), the Daphnis et Chloë of Longus (1559) and the Opera Moralia of Plutarch (1572). His vigorous and idiomatic version of Plutarch, Vies des hommes illustres, was translated into English by Sir Thomas North, and supplied Shakespeare with materials for his Roman plays.
