As the book opens Frank is suing the university for unauthorized misuse of his cells, but the trial judge rules that the cells were waste and that the university could dispose of them as it wished. Frank’s lawyers advise that the university, as a tax-funded organization, can still claim the rights to the cells under the doctrine of eminent domain.
Like Who Framed Roger Rabbit (which had been recently released at the time), much of the footage featured in the film is live-action with newly made animation (although some of the animation used for some scenes was made from existing footage).
House then moves to Cuddy’s office for the differential and is discussing the presence of calcium carbonate in Adam’s stool when he is evicted by Cuddy again, with the news that Adam is in a cardiac intensive care unit.

Hering–Breuer reflex. The Hering–Breuer inflation reflex, named for Josef Breuer and Ewald Hering, is a reflex triggered to prevent over-inflation of the lung. Pulmonary stretch receptors present in the smooth muscle of the airways respond to excessive stretching of the lung during large inspirations.
Research has focused on their role in cardiovascular (particularly atherosclerosis), connective tissue and neoplastic diseases, where blood plasma levels may be a marker of the disease severity or prognosis, and they may be useful in evaluating progress of some treatments.
Smooth muscles and skeletal muscles (and probably to a lower extent in cardiac muscle) in their well-differentiated (contractile) state co-express (along with vinculin) a splice variant carrying an extra exon in the 3’ coding region, thus encoding a longer isoform meta-vinculin (meta VCL) of ~150KD molecular weight — a protein whose existence has been known since the 1980s.
